But the admission did not come without equivocation.<\/p>\n<p><object id=\"cspan-video-player\" width=\"512\" height=\"330\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/fpdownload.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0\" align=\"middle\"><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/static.c-span.org\/assets\/swf\/CSPANPlayer.1434395986.swf?clipid=4584970\" \/><param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" \/><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#ffffff\" \/><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"system=http:\/\/www.c-span.org\/common\/services\/flashXml.php?clipid=4584970&amp;style=inline&amp;version=2014-01-23\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Rather, it followed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.academia.edu\/2037875\/Mild_Traumatic_Brain_Injury_the_U.S._National_Football_League_and_the_Manufacture_of_Doubt_An_Ethical_Legal_and_Historical_Analysis\">industry&#8217;s playbook<\/a> of perpetuating doubt: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?c4584970\/rep-schakowsky-dr-mckee-mr-miller-concussion-forum\">But there are also a number of questions that come with that<\/a>,&#8221; Miller went on to say.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ergo<\/em>\u00a0you can expect that despite this admission, the NFL will continue<a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/espn\/otl\/story\/_\/id\/14711203\/nfl-donations-brain-research-benefit-league-linked-doctors-raise-worries-influence-science-lines\"> to cast doubt<\/a> upon the unequivocal link between repetitive brain trauma and CTE. Worse still, the NFL will continue to employ and associate itself with adamant CTE deniers&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/deadspin.com\/why-is-the-nfls-most-infamous-quack-still-involved-in-i-1746274559\">such as Dr. Pellman<\/a>&#8211;and the NFL will also continue to <a href=\"http:\/\/uproxx.com\/ksk\/nfl-neurosurgeon-its-much-more-dangerous-riding-a-bike-or-a-skateboard-than-playing-youth-football\/\">pedal false hope to parents that playing youth tackle football is &#8220;safe.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, shortly after the hearing concluded, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/2016\/03\/15\/nfl-cte-research\/81800838\/\">the NFL went on the offensive<\/a> and sought to reconcile Miller&#8217;s admission with the NFL&#8217;s playbook of doubt:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He was discussing Dr. Mckee&#8217;s findings and made the additional point that a lot more questions need to be answered,\u201d NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement. \u00a0\u201cHe said that the experts should speak to the state of the science&#8230;[and he]\u00a0made the additional point that a lot more questions need to be answered.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Far from being a watershed moment, this &#8220;admission&#8221; will likely be another chapter in the NFL&#8217;s obfuscation of the truth.
